About Mr. Taylor

Hey there! My name is Gary Taylor!

I am a Substitute Teacher in the Edmonds School District of Washington State. I graduated from East Carolina University with a degree in Middle Grade Education, with concentrations in Math and Social Studies. Upon graduation, I taught 7th and 8th grade social studies in Pitt County, North Carolina, where I had lived since my freshman year of high school. Around the Fall/Winter of 2011, I had an opportunity to relocate to the Orlando, Florida area that I decided to take, and would spend three years there working multiple jobs including the Walt Disney World Resort and beer vending for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. After working multiple jobs for the duration of my stay in Florida, and finding that getting back into teaching in Florida was going to prove difficult for a variety of reasons, I decided to relocate back to Washington State where I was born. My hope is that I will be able to make a return full-time to teaching.

While I am able to teach math, my real passion is in social studies! I absolutely love History and the stories that have come about from our past. I enjoy learning about how people from different parts of the world interact with one another, and I also love to learn about cultural differences. I am always in awe of being in a place with historical significance and reflecting on how the events that took place there shaped the world that we live in.

One of my passions in life is to travel. I have been to 40 of the 50 United States as well as to the nations of Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Mexico, Norway and Mexico. I absolutely love meeting people from different places and going to historic sites. I am a huge theme park fan as well (which might have influenced my choice to move to Central Florida) and have visited theme parks all over North America, and some in Europe while riding nearly 500 different roller coasters. I love try local restaurants (pizza places in particular) any chance I get to and will also take in many live shows and sporting events when I have the chance.

This blog will encompass my love of travel as I share my travel experiences, and my thoughts about these different places. I enjoy photography and thus take many pictures when I visit different locations, many of which will be shared on this site. I want to thank you for checking out The Traveling Mr. Taylor and hope that you will continue to follow my blog into the future!
