Address: N 36th St and Troll Ave. Intersection
A long time ago, in a land far, far away, there lived a large troll under a bridge. This troll was always lurking, ready to attack with his…..Volkswagen Beetle! Don’t believe me? I kid you not, there is in fact a troll under the bridge not far from Downtown Seattle.
Okay, so perhaps it’s not a real troll, but it is a massive piece of artwork that resides under the Aurora Ave. Bridge, just on the other side of the ship canal from Downtown Seattle in Fremont. The Fremont Troll was created as a unique work to utilize the space underneath the Aurora Ave. Bridge, and also pays homage to the Scandinavian Culture of the Seattle area, as trolls are a common part of Scandinavian folklore. The sculpture itself took approximately 7 months to complete and over 2 tons of material to complete.
One of the most distinguishing features of the sculpture is that of the Volkswagen Beetle. It is in fact an actual Beetle that was used for the creation of this sculpture. The troll is very popular for people of all ages especially the kids as they conquer the giant troll! Stop by the intersection of 35th and Troll if you have an opportunity and see the troll for yourself.
